Elmo John Lane II, age 69, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018, at his home.
He was born October 21, 1948. His parents were the late Elmo John and Mary Corine (Smith) Lane. During his life he was united in marriage to Donna Hamilton, Debrah K. Doud, and Pam Bricker.
John grew up attending St. Stephen Catholic Church and School. He honorably served his country during Vietnam, entering the Army in 1969. He was employed by Valley Steel, Halliburton, and Kincaid Oil. John had served on the Flora Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of the Flora American Legion, and had been a member of Kiwanis. John loved his grandkids and his family, and enjoyed visiting with friends. He liked watching westerns on television, and following the Cardinals and Nascar.
He is survived by 3 children: John Craig Lane of Canton, Elizabeth Nicole Lane (Ray Stapp) and Pamela Bruno (Angelo) both of Branson, Missouri; and 7 grandchildren: Jakob C. Lane, Dylan S. Lane, Madison P. Lane, Presley N. Stapp, and Kali, Lecksi, and Miya DeRoboam. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and a daughter: Monica Dawn Phillips Lane.
A visitation will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. A graveside service will follow at St. Stephen Cemetery in Flora, where military honors will be presented. Those attending are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1 p.m. and follow in procession. Memorial donations are suggested to the local chapter of Disabled American Veterans, and will be accepted through the funeral home.
