Marjorie Faye Murbarger, age 88, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018.
Marjorie was born January 3, 1930, in Clay County, the daughter of Orville and Ethel Grace (Gill) Benskin. She married Carroll D. Murbarger September 29, 1950, in Fairfield. He preceded her in death September 23, 1987.
Marjorie had worked as a seamstress at the Genesco Garment Factory in Olney and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She loved to quilt and had made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. Marjorie also did volunteer work, making and donating bibs for local nursing homes, and was known for her homemade angel food cakes and loved to dance.
She is survived by her children: Parvin Murbarger (Carolyn) of Clay City, Deanna Benson (Dave) of Bolingbrook, Sharon David of Cisne, and Eunice Heusack (Mike) of St. Louis; six grandchildren: Anthony Rutt, Debra Fehrenbacher, Ryan Fehrenbacher, Aaron Williams, Amanda Dees, and Marty David; nine great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Retha Murbarger; one brother-in-law: Neal Murbarger; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister: Alva Joyce Benskin; and a grandson: Curt Rutt.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Bethel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jill Bunker officiating. Burial will follow in Clay City Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church.
