Margaret McCollum, age 76, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday evening, June 12, 2018, at her home.
Maggie was born January 23, 1942, in Clay County, the daughter of Clayton E. and Merle (Laycoax) Webster. She married Larry McCollum on May 2, 1959, and together they have shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.
Early on Maggie worked at the shoe factory and later went on to work at World Color Press in shipping and receiving, where she retired after 25 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville and had been at one time an active member of D.A.R. Maggie and Larry enjoyed traveling on motorcycles throughout the United States, taking many month-long vacations over the years. She also enjoyed reading and her dog “Max” was her true buddy for the past 8 years.
She is survived by her husband: Larry McCollum of Louisville; a son: Steven McCollum of Louisville; a daughter: Lori Sims (Scott) of Louisville; 5 grandchildren: Stephanie Coble (Billy), Kaylee McCollum, Nathan Sims, Jacob Sims, and Clayton Sims; 3 great-grandchildren: Drew Coble, Cassidy Coble, and Keya Coble; 4 siblings: Carlin Webster of Ypsilanti, MI, Jan (Andy) Fleckenstein of Milwaukee, WI, Judy Richie of Alton, and Alan (Susan) Webster of Louisville; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 brothers: Donald Webster and C. Neal Webster.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will follow in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to Clay County Cancer Crusaders or Clay County Hospice and will be accepted through the funeral home.
