Roger Dale Ashley, age 61, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, April 22, 2018, at his home in Flora.

Roger was born March 10, 1957, in Effingham, the son of Bobby Gene and Rita June (Hetzel) Ashley. He married Virginia Lynn Wells on August 10, 1984, at the Clay City Baptist Church, and they have enjoyed 33 years of marriage. Roger recently retired from his own business, was a proud NRA member, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Roger was loved and respected by his large family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife: Virginia Ashley of Flora; son: Allen Hemrich and fiancée Tatiana Toczko of Cibolo, TX; daughter: Jennifer Lynn Bates of Flora; 4 grandchildren: Thomas E. Bates III, Victoria Lynn Bates, Barron Trapone and Theodore Benjamin Hemrich; 1 brother: Greg Eugene Ashley of Xenia; and 5 sisters: Connie Zerrusen of Effingham, Beverly Ann Ashley of Louisville, Julie Hurd of Flora, Robin Mae Wattles of Clay City, and Tina Gumbel of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 23rd at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with visitation from 5:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Monday at the funeral home.
