Gerald P. “Jerry” Judd, age 80, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday evening, April 6, 2018, at his home.
Jerry was born November 28, 1937, in Clay County, the son of Aruthur W. “Art” Judd and Mary Josephine (McGannon) Judd. He married Linda Mae Harrell on June 4, 1978, in Noble, and together they shared 39 years of marriage.
Jerry attended St. Stephen School and was raised in the Catholic faith. He worked at Pontiac Correctional Center and did oil field work in Pontiac and Clay County. He later operated Art’s Party Shop. Jerry served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Boy Scouts, and had been a member of the American Legion. He was an excellent cook in the kitchen, making a variety of dishes; was a fan of Delta Blues music; and enjoyed going quail hunting with his bird dogs.
He is survived by his wife: Linda Judd of Flora; 2 sons: M. Kelly Judd and Andrew Judd (Kerri Craft) of Edmond, OK; 6 grandchildren: Angie, Chris, Nick, Brittany, Tyler and Brent; 3 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Amelia and Natalie; 2 brothers: John (Janet) Judd and Joe (Debbie) Judd both of Plainfield; father-in-law: Clifford Harrell of Flora; brother-in-law: Joe (Pam) Harrell of Flora and their children: Heath Harrell, Andy (Becky) Harrell, and Chad (Ashley) Harrell; sister-in-law: Christine (John) Harrington of Flora and their children: J.R. Harrington and Anthony (Laura) Harrington; along with many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Christopher Judd; a sister: Marianne Judd Davis; and his mother-in-law: Nellie Harrell.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will be in Onstott Cemetery, Xenia, with military honors. A memorial visitation will be from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Hospice.
