Margaret Elizabeth Butts, age 94, of Flora, Illinois, and a former resident of San Diego, California, and Eugene, Oregon, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Margo was born August 8, 1924, in Phelps, New York, the daughter of the late Carlin & Alice (Chadwick) Smith. She was married to Wally James Butts.
Throughout her working life she was employed in secretarial positions. Margo was a lifelong Episcopalian and a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Salem. She will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul, and a caring mother and grandmother who loved her family.
She is survived by 3 sons: George Betts (Anita Boonen) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Michael Butts of Chula Vista, California, and David (Denise) Butts of Monroe, Georgia; 2 grandsons: Andrew (Julie) Betts and Adam (Laura) Betts; and 2 great-grandsons: Lee and Elliott. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters including: Bertha Thompson, and also Minnie, Beulah, and Nellie.
A private committal and inurnment in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Columbarium was planned. Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora assisted the family with arrangements.
