LaDonne Goff, age 91, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018, at Flora Gardens Care Center.
LaDonne was born December 23, 1926, the daughter of Arlie and Gladys (Melton) Rush, in Wayne County, Illinois.
On December 27, 1944, LaDonne married William Goff in rural Xenia. LaDonne was a member of Pleasant Mound (Powers) General Baptist Church and served for many years as pianist and church secretary. She also served as cook at Union Grove Youth Camp in Johnsonville.
LaDonne enjoyed cooking and baking pies early each morning at Goff’s Restaurant in Xenia where she was employed and was known around Xenia for her popular homemade yeast rolls.
She and William travelled to many churches throughout Clay, Wayne, and Marion counties, playing and singing at revivals, weddings, and funerals.
LaDonne was preceded in death by her parents, husband William and two brothers-in-law. She is survived by a daughter, Billie Mojonnier (Tim) of Flora, three grandchildren, Kara Kenyon (Trent) of Springfield, OH, Nate Mojonnier (Amber) of Danville, IL, and Allison Key (Neill McNeill) of Danville, IL, four great-grandchildren, Emma and Eli Mojonnier and Emily and Laney Key, all of Danville, a sister, Geraldine Dickey (Donald) of Flora, a sister-in-law, Frances Cantrell of Salem, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for LaDonne will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Xenia. Memorial donations can be made to Heritage Woods Activity Fund or any charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted through the funeral home.
