Nov 20th, 1932 - May 8th, 2013Mary Claire Moses, age 80, of Flora, IL passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Hooverwood Nursing Home in Indianapolis, IN.
Mary Claire was born on November 20, 1932 in Cairo, IL to Victor Hugh and Edith Hester (Jones) Honey. She married James “Ben” Moses on December 28, 1957 in Cairo. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1983.
Mary Claire earned her BS-RN nursing degree and retired from Clay County Hospital after 10 years. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Flora, served as a Red Cross volunteer, member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, member of Pinochle Club, and helped with the Food Pantry.
She is survived by her children: Dr. Tim (Theresa) Moses of Laurinburg, NC, Nancy Lambert of Harrisburg, Doug (Kathy) Moses of Indianapolis, IN, Amy Moses of Evanston; daughter-in-law: Kendra Moses of Peoria; brother-in-law: Edward Raub; 16 grandchildren: Daniel and Ben Moses of Peoria, Benjamin, Andrew (Kelly), Philip, and Mary Moses of Laurinburg, NC, Nicholas, Jillian, and Noah Lambert of Harrisburg, Grace, Vivian and Hugh Moses of Indianapolis, IN, Maire, Maeve, Aoife, and Thomas Gavagan of Evanston; and 3 great-grandchildren: Nathanael, Cecilia, and Dominic. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son (Jay Moses), a daughter (Claire Moses), a brother (Dr. Edward Honey), and a sister (Delores Raub).
A funeral mass for Mary Claire Moses will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Flora. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 10, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with a 7:45 p.m. Rosary. The family has requested that memorial donations may be made to Clay County Hospital Endowment Foundation.
