George Backer

   George Backer, age 71, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday February 9, 2019, at Flora Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

   He was born September 28, 1947, and was a resident of Sunset Crossing CILA Home in Flora.  George enjoyed listening to music, watching television, and drinking Coca-Cola.  He was very routine-oriented and insisted on wearing his shoes at all times while carrying sixty-five cents tucked into his sock.  George loved the Special Olympics and wore his two medals with pride.  He loved to give hugs, would always help light up the room when he was in it, and will be missed tremendously.   

   A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held 10 a.m. on Friday February 15, 2019, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Pastor Bruce Horsley will officiate.  Private burial will be in Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
