Robert R. Jackson, age 84, of Edgewater, Florida, formerly of Flora, IL passed away March 11, 2019, at Ocean View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
He was born July 1, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Frank and Erma (King) Jackson.
SMSGT Robert Jackson proudly served 22 years in the US Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He later retired after 25 years from the 3M Manufacturing Company. He was a life member of both the Flora American Legion and the Air Force Association. Bob was an avid woodworker who often donated his work to the Humane Society for fundraising. He enjoyed cooking, especially Tex-Mex recipes, listening to music and reading.
He is survived by his companion, Yvonne Glaspy of Edgewater, FL and his children: Robert R. Jackson Jr. of Marble Falls, TX, Debbie (Danny) Greenwood of Flora, Cheryl Jackson of Xenia, Christine (Tom) McAllister of Flora, and Michelle Ross of Eckert, CO; Yvonne’s children: Richard Glaspy of New Port Richey, FL, Debbie (Brad) Johnson of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Terri (Dan) Evans of Veedersburg, IN, Kevin (Sheila) Glaspy of Effingham, IL, and Dave (Deanna) Glaspy of Charleston, IL; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin infant sons (Eric Ray and Steven Scott).
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora with the presentation of military funeral honors.
