Velda Louise Lambrich (Persinger), age 74, of Flora, Illinois, passed into the presence of Jesus on Thursday morning, January 2, 2020, at her home.
She was born May 18, 1945, in Clay County, the daughter of Carol E. and Martha A. (Hammack) Young. She was united in marriage to the late Donald E. Persinger on October 2, 1969, in St, Joseph, MO.
Velda had worked at Sparton Manufacturing and Belltronics in the past. She was a faithful follower of Christ and had attended church regularly. She enjoyed singing and playing guitar at Opries with friends. Velda was very active and was always there to help others when they called. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a very important part of her life and she cherished her time spent with them.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Rhonda (Jim) Lewis of Rinard and Connie (Tom) Greenwood of Flora; 1 son: Donnie (Shannon) Persinger of Flora; 12 grandchildren: Preston, Cody, Becca, Heather, Heidi, J.T., Topper, Logan, Travis, Dwight, Dylan, and Kyra; 14 great-grandchildren: Connor, McKenzie, Bella, Zoey, Drew, Alexis, Madison, Paisley, Briar, Lynnlee, Evie, Marie, Edward, and Liam; siblings: Everett Young, Ida Rado, Linda Pruitt, Charolette Pride, Pearl Leak, Danny Young; and many extended family members and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son: Ronald; a daughter-in-law: Lori Persinger; and siblings: Florene Sharp, Luella Justice, Bill Young, Scott Young, and Kimberly Scroggins.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2020, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with Loren Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders and will be accepted through the funeral home.
