Marion Irene Burgess, age 97, of Flora, Illinois, passed away August 23, 2022.
She was born October 12, 1924, in Flora, the daughter of Orval and Ethel (Benskin) Lamb. She was united in marriage to Eugene Burgess on March 17, 1950, in Flora, and together they shared 36 wedding anniversaries until his death November 15, 1986.
Marion worked for many years at the International Shoe Factory in Flora. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, knitting, and doing word searches.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Steve Burgess of Salem and Rick Burgess of Conroe, Texas; a grandson: Scott Steven Burgess; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law: Jan Burgess; 4 brothers: Ray, Bill, Roscoe, and Ira Lamb; and 5 sisters: Myrtle Maroney, Mae Cook, Mona Wilson, Mary Wilson, and Madge Hoffman.
Private family services will be held with interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to Fur a Good Paws and will be accepted through the funeral home. To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com

So sorry to hear of Aunt Marion's passing. Know it has been a long journey but her sons made it possible for her to stay in her home for many years, I am sure she felt blessed. She was a woman with some spirit and it showed with that twinkle in her eyes. Besides her boys she was very proud of Scott who was very dear to her heart.

Your mother was like another mom to me She always seemed to care about us boys growing up. She followed our sports and I had a lot of respect for her. She was a wonderful woman.
