Elaine P. Todd, age 94, of Flora, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 22, 2022. She was born October 6, 1927, in West Frankfort, to Frank Bush Price and Verda Irene Price.
Elaine married William “Bill” Robert Todd on March 3, 1946, in East St. Louis while he was on leave before shipping out for Germany. They celebrated 56 years of marriage until his death on November 9, 2002. Elaine first worked as a secretary in a law firm in West Frankfort. She also worked for the State of Illinois Unemployment Office in West Frankfort and in various offices doing secretarial work and bookkeeping, including her husband’s law office. She was active during her life in church work, serving as a youth group leader and also as State President of Women of the Church of God. She enjoyed and held offices in Garden Club, Home Extension, Bridge Club, Hospital Auxiliary, and was an active member of the Flora Ladies Golf Association. She loved the game of golf. She was an avid bird watcher and had a special feathered friend, Harvey, a mockingbird who would return to her yard every year and fly around the house, looking in the windows until he found her to get her attention and receive the raisins he had learned to expect from her.
Elaine was a devoted mother and was active in the school Parent/Teacher Association. She was cheerful and loved to laugh, telling funny stories and jokes to her friends. Elaine was very strong in her Christian faith, praying for her family, friends, and many others daily. She cherished time spent with her family most of all. Elaine wanted you to not remember her with sadness, not remember her with tears, but remember all the laughter shared throughout the years.
Those left to cherish Elaine’s memory are her son, William Robin Todd and wife Sharla of Flora; granddaughter, Robin Carol Todd of Flora; step-granddaughter, Angela Vincent and husband Tyler of Salem; step-grandson, Jordan Baird and Brittine Denoncour of Flora; step-great-grandchildren, Maxwell, William, Annabelle, and Eleanor Vincent, and Joplyn Baird; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Todd; infant daughter, Nancy Ellen; siblings: John Franklin “Red” Price, Maxine Price, and Gary Price; and special uncle, John “Jack” Morgan.
A visitation will be held 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, September 27, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Flora, Illinois 62839. A funeral ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the funeral home with Dr. John Fozard and Pastor Ben VanHyning officiating.
A committal ceremony and burial will take place at Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Flora Church of God, Clay County Hospice, Mid-America Christian University (MACU), or any charity of the donor’s choice and any of these will be accepted through the funeral home. To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com

Condolences to the family for your loss, but what a legacy this dear sweet Christian woman has left! So grateful for being in the youth group at Church of God under she and Bill's leadership and for all that they did for the youth and in their other roles. Wonderful memories.
I very well remember them as our youth leaders for church. They were fabulous and Elaine encouraged so many to always be as much as they could be. Mediocre just wasn't in her vocabulary. But she could also be very nurturing . I was so lucky to grow up with a mentor like her. Robin, Sharla and kids my condolences goes out to you but Im sure Elaine's light will continue to shine through all of you in some way.
Elaine was a wonderful lady. She would come into Priceless IGA and if you were looking a little down she would say something to brighten your day. Prayers to the family.
Was neighbors with Bill and Elaine growing up. They were also leaders in our youth church group. They welcomed the youth group into their home and I remember swimming in their pool and playing table tennis in their basement. Thank you for the leadership that was provided to impressionable teenagers.
Comforting prayers to all. 🙏🏼

Her kindness, humility, love of God and passion for family and others was evident in everything that she did. I will miss our visits, her stories of the past, laughs and the best pecan pie and iced chocolate brownies we have ever had! She and your Dad will always hold a special place in my heart and I hope that we will all be united when the lord decides the timing is right. All our love. Michael, Mary, Patrick, Brian and Kevin
