Graveside Memorial Ceremony: 11 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2022, at Clay City Cemetery

Robert Lee Monical, age 84, of Flora, and formerly of Noble, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, December 7, 2022, at Flora Gardens Care Center.
He was born April 7, 1938, in Flora, the son of Lee and Pearl (Franklin) Monical. He was united in marriage to Noma Lents on July 27, 1960, in Sailor Springs, and together they shared 50 wedding anniversaries until her death January 22, 2011.
Robert worked in the oil field. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, doing mechanical work, watching stock car racing and demolition derbies, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his 3 sons: Kevin Monical (Gwen Brown) of Flora, Dale (Becky) Monical of Flora, and Warren (Tammy) Monical of Waterloo, Alabama; 7 grandchildren: Crystal (Zeb) Lewis of Flora, Matthew Monical (Amanda Hostettler) of Flora, Dustin Monical of Harrisburg, Samantha Monical of Louisville, Kendra Monical of Elkmont, Alabama, Logan Monical of Clay City, and Kalin Monical of West Salem; 2 great-grandchildren: Tanner Roberts and MaKayla Monical; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson: Schyler Monical; a brother: Billy Monical; and 2 sisters: Bonnie (Dale) Blair and Gina (Tom) Harris.
A graveside memorial ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2022, at Clay City Cemetery. Those attending are asked to arrive directly at the cemetery. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to any charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted through the funeral home. Every time I went to my Dad at Flora Gardens,I would go see Robert.. He would find a way out to visiting room to sit with us Bobby and Frank sometimes. We had the best talks and the stories they could tell .. I peeped in on him Monday could see the difference. To the families I am very grateful I got to know your Dad and Grandpa, I am so sorry for your loss . He was a great, caring and wonderful friend. I will miss seeing you “ Pops “ Monical.. I got to know Bob, while working at Flora Gardens as a night time CNA. He would often not let many help him, but would smile when I came into his room. He would talk to me and, we would sit together often until he fell asleep. May his family know peace and may he RIP.
