Neoma Evelyn Lane, age 85, formerly of Flora, Illinois, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, in Lecanto, Florida.
She was born October 7, 1939, in Jadwin, Missouri, the daughter of J. Monroe and Clara Marie (Quick) Prater.
She was united in marriage to Claude Hodges for 22 years until his death in 1980. They raised 2 daughters, Robin and Kim. She was later married to Nolan Brooks for 21 years until his death in 2003 and to Leon Lane for 13 years until his death in 2023.
Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper for several years for Knapp Oil Company and Flora Lumber Company. She became a Registered Nurse at the age of 50 and enjoyed that career until her retirement. She loved spending time with family, turkey and deer hunting, fishing, gardening, and bird/squirrel watching. Her grandchildren cherish memories learning to hunt and fish under her instruction.
She is survived by her children: Robin Eddinger (husband Mike) and Kim Chaney (husband Jay); stepchildren: Julie Weber (husband Den), Brian Lane (wife Erin), and Lisa Lane (partner Sandy); grandchildren: Justin Eddinger (wife Kristina), Samantha Ramos (husband Omar), Emily Stortzum (husband Steve), Hannah Chaney, Matthew Eddinger (wife Katie), Jaime Eddinger, Ryan Chaney; great-grandchildren: Avory, Olivia, Easton and Kyleigh Eddinger, Madison and Connor Houts, Jojo, Joli, and Joshua Ramos, Molly, Cameron and Hattie Stortzum; and siblings: Imagean Hodges, Doris Ross, John Prater, Malinda Henson, and Karen Bourke.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; 2 brothers: Eugene and Manuel Prater; sister: Erma Tognoni; and stepson: Mark Lane.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.

So many awesome memories of Evelyn .....she was a true friend to my Mother and we had many fun shopping trips with Evelyn and Kim..... my heartfelt condolences to the entire family, she loved you all so much.

Dear Kim and Jay, Robin and Mike, M We were so sad to hear about the death of your dear mother. Your mother was so dear to all of our hearts. Our children have expressed about all the various times they had visited with Papa and Evelyn and had such wonderful time hanging out with them. as one daughter said, “We may have called her Evelyn but she was the only grandmother we ever knew ” Yes, after Papa died we missed both of them along with your her children.
