Ted G. Cook, age 81, of Louisville, IL, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born January 3, 1934, in Clay County, the son of Roy A. and Ida Eunice (Tolliver) Cook, and was married to Joan Cox in 1971. Ted operated heavy equipment throughout his life, working for Geneva Construction and Harold Ray. While dedicated to hard work on the job, he also took pride in caring for his yard at home. Camping was something he really enjoyed. He attended the Flora Assembly of God Church.
Ted is survived by his wife: Joan Cook of Louisville; children: Douglas (Deborah) Cook of Norris City, Carol (Cliff) Anderson of Cisne and Fairfield, Cheryl Trout of Norris City, Steve Cook of Geff, and Cindy (William Short) Burt of Fairfield; stepchildren: Kathy Tester of Louisville, Valerie Tester of Louisville, Belinda (Larry) Garner of Soddy-Daisy, TN, and Carrie (Tim) McGill of Paxton; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law: Don Crawford of Flora. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Leroy Cook and Lewis Raymond Cook; 2 sisters: Mary Lou Crawford and Ida Mae Young; and stepchildren: Elizabeth Tester and James Alvin Tester III.
A funeral service for Ted Cook will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday.
