Freida Mae Freeman, age 92, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Wednesday evening, February 14, 2024, at Flora Gardens Care Center.
She was born October 15, 1931, in Xenia, the daughter of Guy Emery Wantland and Minnie Ora (Akes) Colclasure Wantland. She was united in marriage to James Earl Freeman on October 1, 1949, in Piggott, Arkansas, and together they shared 53 wedding anniversaries until his passing January 6, 2003.
Freida was a longtime member of Oak Mound Christian Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and cherished her family deeply. She also shared her affection with her dogs that she adored. She found joy in crocheting and quilting.
She is survived by her children: Sharon (Jim) Speiser of Xenia, Linda (Pat) Blanton of Xenia, Jim (Doris) Freeman of Mt. Vernon, Steve (Julene) Freeman of Louisville, Kentucky, David (Angie) Freeman of Flora, and Bryan (Laura) Freeman of Mexico; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law: Henry Freeman of Warren, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson: Jason Freeman; and siblings: Anna Allison, Thelma Tolliver, Frank Colclasure, Bill Colclasure, and Bob Colclasure.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Oak Mound Christian Church, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
